Meet the makers of EpicMix @ Snowcial

One of the things that has been a part of Snowcial from the beginning has been the on-mountain scavenger hunt. We have done it using digital cameras or uploading photos straight to the Snowcial Flickr account from smartphones, but the inefficiency of that got us thinking last year how awesome it would be if we could just use some kind of semi automated mobile app or something.

Enter EpicMix.
epicmix

EpicMix is new for the 2010/2011 season at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly, and a revolutionary technological advancement for the ski industry. With EpicMix, all your activity on the slopes is automatically captured and uploaded to your EpicMix dashboard.

We’re really excited to have EpicMix for the Snowcial scavenger hunt this year. This takes it to a whole new level. We can have awards for most pins, most elevation skied, most runs, most points earned and best overall. We’ll figure out the particulars of the contest soon, so stay tuned and if you’re in Colorado, check out EpicMix at Keystone when they open on November 5th.

If you’re coming to Snowcial in Lake Tahoe this January, you’ll be getting a full demo of Vail Resort’s new app. Vail Resort’s CEO, Rob Katz, is one of our headliner presenters, along with Josh Williams of Gowalla, who influenced the development of EpicMix. So in addition to Mike Slone and the rest of the Vail interactive marketing team, you’ll get the chance to chat, mingle and shred with the brains behind EpicMix.
